Alan G. Li was awarded the Chateaubriand Fellowship in STEM for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Office for Science & Technology of the Embassy of France awards up to 50 American doctoral students each year the Chateaubriand STEM Fellowship. It aims to initiate or reinforce collaborations, partnerships, or joint projects between French and American research groups.
Alan is currently a third year PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Matthias Preindl in the Motor Drives and Power Electronics Laboratory (MPlab). He will use the Chateaubriand fellowship to research lithium-ion battery management in smart grid applications at CentraleSupélec, Université Paris-Saclay, under Prof Alessio Iovine.
Alan will also be studying battery degradation diagnostics at the Battery Innovation Centre under Prof Maitane Berecibar in Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) with the help of the Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) Fellowship. He plans to start at Paris-Saclay in 2023 after finishing at VUB.
"I'm delighted to have support from both the BAEF and Chateaubriand fellowships to study in Brussels and Paris," Alan said.
