Christine P. Hendon, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Vice Dean for Engagement, has been named a recipient of the 2025 Women’s Health Breakthrough Science Grant from the EQT Foundation.

The competitive program supports bold scientific solutions in historically underfunded areas of women’s health. This year’s 11 funded projects span diagnostic innovation, therapeutic development, fertility preservation, maternal health, and cancer care. Each award provides catalytic funding, hands-on support, and access to a global network of scientists and partners working at the intersection of deep technology and public impact.

Hendon’s project, developed in collaboration with Drs. June Hou and Xiaowei Chen, will prototype a transcervical hyperspectral endoscope and build a foundational image database. The technology could bring researchers closer to a non-invasive, early-stage screening method for endometrial cancer, a disease that disproportionately affects women and is often detected late.

The EQT Foundation, the philanthropic arm of global investment organization EQT, launched the Women’s Health Breakthrough Science Grants to accelerate research that addresses overlooked challenges in women’s health. With offices in more than 25 countries, EQT manages EUR 269 billion in total assets and invests across industries with a mission to future-proof companies and foster positive societal impact.
