MTT-S Graduate Student Fellowship Award

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) sponsors the MTT-S Graduate Student Fellowship awards to encourage and support graduate students interested in pursuing the field of microwave engineering. The fellowship honorees receive a prize of $6,000, presented at the annual IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium(IMS). It is the highest honor that the IEEE MTT-S gives to graduate students. Sohail is one of the twelve yearly recipients in the general category.

Sohail Ahasan is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Columbia University in Electrical Engineering. He works under Prof. Harish Krishnaswamy's guidance at the Columbia high-Speed and Millimeter-wave IC (CoSMIC) lab. His research focuses on integrated circuits and systems at RF, Millimeter-wave/THz, and optical frequencies to enable next-generation communication and sensing applications. He was a co-recipient of the IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits(RFIC) Symposium Best Student Paper Award, Second Place in 2020, and the 2020 Analog Devices Outstanding Student Designer Award. Sohail Ahasan received the B.Tech. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, in 2016 and Columbia University, New York, in 2018, respectively.
