Ph.D. Student Jingping Nie Named 2025 CPS Rising Star

EE Ph.D. candidate Jingping Nie has been selected to attend the 2025 CPS Rising Stars Workshop, recognizing her contributions to intelligent healthcare solutions in AIoT systems.

Jingping Nie, a Ph.D. candidate in Columbia University’s Department of Electrical Engineering, has been named a 2025 CPS Rising Star. Advised by Professors Xiaofan (Fred) Jiang and Matthias Preindl, Nie’s research focuses on transforming everyday devices into intelligent healthcare solutions by integrating hardware and software in human-centric Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) systems.

Her recent projects include developing wearable devices and AIoT systems for wellness, fitness, and health, as well as optimizing human-in-the-loop EV-interfaced microgrids. Her work has been featured in top-tier journals and conferences and has earned multiple distinctions, including Best Paper and People’s Choice Demo at ACM MobiSys 2024, Best Paper at IEEE ITEC 2021, Best Demo at ACM/IEEE IPSN 2020, and Best Demo Runner-up at ACM SenSys 2022.

Nie is also a recipient of the 2023 Apple Scholars in AI/ML Ph.D. Fellowship and was recognized as a 2023 EECS Rising Star.
