Dr. Igor Kadota to join Northwestern University as an Assistant Professor

April 14, 2023

Dr. Igor Kadota, a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Electrical Engineering Department and the Data Science Institute will join the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University as an Assistant Professor in September 2023. He will be working at the intersection of rigorous theory and practical system implementation aiming to contribute to the future wireless networks that will bring to reality emerging applications such as the Internet-of-Things, Smart-City Intersections, and Shared Augmented Reality.

Dr. Kadota joined Columbia EE in September 2020 after earning his Ph.D. from MIT LIDS in CNRG and his B.Sc. from the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) in Brazil. Since then, he has been working with Prof. Gil Zussman in the Wireless & Mobile Networking (WiMNet) lab. In addition to working with members of the WiMNet lab, he also joined several multidisciplinary research projects, including:

Dr. Kadota also worked with Kristian Breton and Trey Greene from the Columbia Engineering Outreach team as part of the COSMOS-NewLAW Research Experience and Mentoring for Teachers (REM/RET) program.

“Faculty, researchers, and students at Columbia EE are both highly collaborative and passionate about their work, creating a remarkable research environment. When I joined Columbia, I knew that I would work with the exceptional members of the WiMNet lab, but I did not imagine that I would have the opportunity to work on such a variety of topics (ranging from control of microchips to developing weather-aware algorithms) and collaborate with so many talented researchers from Columbia and beyond. The experiences and knowledge that I gained at Columbia EE had (and will continue to have) a significant impact in my academic career,” said Dr. Kadota.
