Dirk Englund holds a BS in Physics from the California Institute of Technology and an MS in Electrical Engineering and PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University. After postdoctoral work in the Physics Department at Harvard University, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of Columbia University as an Assistant Professor, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics. His research focuses on quantum optics in photonic nanostructures. More specifically, his work addresses integrated photonic crystal devices and networks for quantum information processing and advanced optoelectronic devices based on cavity quantum electrodynamics. He has published over 25 journal articles and several book chapters and patents.
