Prof. Ellis and Prof. Chang have received a $750,000 award from National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) University Research Initiatives. The grant will support research to develop advanced methods for analyzing videos that are growing explosively on the Web. The tools to be developed in this project will dramatically increase the ease and success of analyzing large multimedia collections by representing the media content in terms of a unique set of joint audio-visual signatures that allow videos to be matched and classified according to their salient properties. The results will have broad applications in open source video search, anomalous event detection, and forensics.
