EE PhD Student Jun Wang Wins Prestigious Scholarship

EE PhD student Jun Wang has won the 2009 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad. The scholarship, carrying a $5,000 prize and a certificate, was set up by China Scholarship Council to honor students with outstanding academic accomplishment. There are a total of 23 students receiving this award from 10 states of the east coast in the USA covering all academic fields.

Jun Wang is working on machine learning and multimedia in the Digital Video and Multimedia Lab, directed by Prof. Shih-Fu Chang. Jun has already won numerous awards (including Goggle Global Intern Scholarship 2009, IBM Watson Emerging Leader in Multimedia 2009) and has authored or coauthored many papers published in ACMMM, ICML, CVPR, ICCV, Proteomics, and Biomedical Informatics.
