COSMOS Project Featured in Voice of America

Voice of America features the work of Professors Kostic, Krishnaswamy, Schulzrinne, and Zussman, postdocs Jonathan Ostrometzky and Tianwei Deng, and Ph.D. students Tingjun Chen and Craig Gutterman on building the COSMOS advanced wireless testbed in West Harlem

The COSMOS testbed is a joint project of Rutgers, Columbia, and NYU in partnership with NYC, City College of New York, Silicon Harlem, University of Arizona, and IBM (for additional information click here). The project is now accepting applications for summer Research Experience for Teachers.

Fifth generation mobile networks, better known as “5G,” promise ultra-fast connections and more reliability. But getting these networks up and running won’t happen overnight, and only a handful of U.S. cities have initial access. New York City is building an experimental network that tests the limits of 5G and beyond. VOA reporter Tina Trinh explains.
