Columbia to Host New Energy Frontier Research Center

April 27, 2009

Congratulations to Professors Yardley, Heinz, Osgood, Kymissis, and Shepard for winning a 5-year $19.2 million grant to run a new energy research center at Columbia. The Department of Energy-funded center, entitled "Re-Defining Photovoltaic Efficiency through Molecule-Scale Control", will pursue advanced scientific research on energy and make photovoltaic technology more efficient. The EFRC will capitalize on the synergy between theory, measurement, and materials that has distinguished the Columbia team in the development of fundamental understanding and control of charge transport in molecular and nanoscale systems.
