Alumnus Dr. Ali Tajer Accepts Assistant Professorship at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

The Department of Electrical Engineering congratulates Alumni Dr. Ali Tajer for recently accepting a position at Renssealaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as an Assisstant Professor with the department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering. Ali Tajer received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2002 and 2004. He began his studies at Columbia University in 2007, where he received an M.A. degree in Statistics followed by a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering under the supervision of Professor Xiaodong Wang in 2010. He received the Jury Award for Outstanding Research from the Electrical Engineering Department and his thesis was honored with the highest distinction by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Tajer was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University during 2010-2012 and an Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Wayne State University during 2012-2014. His research interests lie in the areas of network information theory and statistical signal processing with applications to wireless communication, sensory networks, and energy grids. Dr. Tajer is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Communications.
