To calculate the specifications needed for the Receiver Front-End, specifications of the amplifier gain and noise and tolerable THD, we need sensor response, attenuation of ultrasound in one-ray model and multi-path environment. For our calculation, we consider the results of the literature[1] and [2], The two sensors MA40S4SR (longer range) and MA40HISR (lower power) are considered for reference to illustrate an example choice of sensors.

Parameters and environmental considerations to derive the above specifications

The final specs are tabulated below. Of these, we were able to showcase the change in range as the aperture of the object changes in the results demo and were able to demonstrate the effect of beamforming.
