Wednesday June 29th Shana will arrive

Thursday - Joe, Theresa, Dawn, Josh, Corrie, Todd, Katie, Ariella, Mom, Dad, Dave and Gina arrive in Cancun.  You are all arriving between 11:30 and 1:00.  Todd is renting a car (which I assume you have arranged yourself) Manuel and I will pick you all up and we will drive back to Merida.  Check in, relax.  Probably dinner in a restaurant.

Friday - Adam and Sonya arrive.  You guys will get a bus to Merida
Those who are interested will make a trip to Uxmal in the morning.  Uxmal is
the ruins of a typical Mayan city.  Click here to see some pictures.  Click here to link to a site that explains it.  We will have to leave fairly early to avoid the heat of mid day.
Return in time for some relaxing at the pool and then dinner/party at Manuel's parents house at about 5:00.  Someone will pick you up from the hotel and bring you.

Saturday July 2nd: The wedding will take place at about 8 at night and go until about 4 in the morning.  We recommend you take a nap that afternoon, but we will also arrange a small tour of the city for those that are interested.

Sunday July 3rd: Everyone is on their own to either explore the city of Merida or stay in the hotel and nurse your hangover by the pool.  Merida has a festival every Sunday, known as Merida en Domingo, which has music, food and vendors on the street around the main square, or Zocalo.  Click here to see the map of Merida.  At some point, perhaps around 1:00, there will be a lunch at Manuel's parents house.

Monday July 4th: check out of the hotel.
We will drive in several cars (which we will arrange) to Chichen Itza, the ruins made famous by the large pyramids.  Click here to link to a web site.

Continue on to Playa del Carmen.  We may take a detour to drop some people off in Cancun depending when your flight is,

We will stay in Playa.  Tentatively, at the hotel Costa del Mar

Tuesday July 5th: Beach. Play and drink pina coladas.

Wednesday July 6th: Either a day trip to Xcaret or Tulum or stay in Playa on the beach.  Xcaret is a kind of cultural and ecological theme park.  Click here to see some photos and here to link to a site.  It costs about $50 for adults, but it is worth it.

Thursday July 7th:   Check out and head for Cancun.  In Manuel's opinion, and those of many other people, the best beaches in the world are those in Cancun.

Tentatively, we will stay at the hotel Imperial las Perlas

Wednesday July 6th - Saturday July 8th:  Explore Cancun and hang out on the beach.  In the evening we will head for one of the infamous clubs for some dancing.  Don't worry, it is not always as crazy as it looks during Spring Break.

Sunday July 9th: Most of us will head back to reality.  If you would like to continue your vacation, we would be happy to offer some recommendations.
