Bio
Javad Ghaderi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. He is also an affiliated member of the Department of Computer Science and the Data Science Institute at Columbia. His research focuses on network algorithms and network control, optimization, and learning. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Tehran, Iran (2006), his M.Sc. from the University of Waterloo, Canada (2008), and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC) (2013), all in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He held a Simons Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin in 2013–2014. He was a visiting scholar at the Simons Institute at UC Berkeley in Fall 2024.
Dr. Ghaderi has received several honors, including Best Paper Awards at IEEE SEC (2025), IEEE INFOCOM (2024, 2020), and ACM CoNEXT (2016); Best Student Paper Award at IFIP Performance (2020); the NSF CAREER Award (2017); the NSF CRII Award (2016); Best Student Paper Finalist Award at ACC (2013); and the Mac Van Valkenburg Graduate Research Award at UIUC (2013). He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and served as TPC Co-Chair for ACM MobiHoc 2024.
