Nikola Tesla Electrical Engineering Scholar

Tesla Scholars

The Electrical Engineering Department extends special recognition to applicants to the MS program who have a distinctly superior undergraduate academic record. Such students are selected to be accorded the honor of being designated a Nikola Tesla Electrical Engineering Scholar. This honor is conferred upon only a very small number of exceptional applicants to the graduate program.

The scholar marks the designee as a member of an elite group of truly exceptional students. Moreover, starting in Fall 2016, upon joining Columbia, the students receive a scholarship of $2,500. In addition, the students are invited to participate in special academic and cultural events organized in their honor. The degree requirements remain the same and there are no special conditions for maintaining this honor; the designees have already earned it through their superb undergraduate academic record.

Students admitted on or before Fall 2015 can participate in the Tesla Leadership Circle
