Spring 2024 EE Student Fellowship

We are excited to announce our Spring 2024 Fellowship Awardee!

Eric Rong is a first-year PhD student and received the Byron Fellowship, conducting research under Professor Michal Lipson in the Lipson Nanophotonics Group. He was a Clark Scholar and SMART Scholar at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a BS and MSE in Electrical Engineering. At Johns Hopkins, he conducted research on semiconducting nanocrystals for solar energy harvesting under Professor Susanna Thon. Following graduation, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for the US Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center. Now at Columbia, he is exploring research interests spanning nanophotonics and nanomaterials.

The Verna Byron Fellowship is awarded to Columbia Engineering Ph.D. students based on their academic achievements and clear potential for future success.
