M2.8. The first figure below shows the three outputs to the moving
average filter of length 5,7, and 9. As the filter width gets larger,
they do get smoother, the peak amplitude gets less, and the delay goes up.
The delay is equal to the filter width, as can be seen in the
second figure below,
which shows the filter output when the input is a step function (shown
in red).
