Course Topics (subject to change)
- The course will focus on the design of RF front-ends for integrated transceivers for wireless communications.
- Overview of wireless communication systems.
- Receiver architectures.
- Transmitter architectures.
- Noise, sensitivity; Nonlinearity and distortion; Dynamic range.
- Low-noise amplifiers.
- Oscillators, phase-locked loops and frequency synthesizers.
- An extensive design project is an integral part of the course.
Computer-aided analysis techniques are extensively used. The latest industry-grade CAD tools and simulation tools are used in this class. See the Design Tools page.
The course is based on a combination of instructor's notes, technical papers and textbook chapters.
The textbook we will use most is:
