Marco Moretti

Marco Moretti is a Professor in the Department of Informatics and Electronic Engineering (Dipartimento Ingegneria dell’Informazione) at the University of Pisa. Prior to joining the University of Pisa, he served as a Senior Researcher at Marconi Mobile (Leonardo). He received his Ph.D. in Telecommunications from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and an M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Florence in Italy.

Dr. Moretti has a long-standing affiliation with Columbia University, where he has been Adjunct Associate Professor in 2014 and 2025. Since 2018, he has also worked with Xidian University in Xi’an, China. His additional partnerships include prominent European institutions such as Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Aalborg University, and the University of Malaga. Dr. Moretti manages and participates in public and private research initiatives at both national and international levels, including the European Space Agency.

With more than 100 publications in international journals and leading conferences, Dr. Moretti is also the holder of four international patents. He has been Senior Area Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing from 2019 to 2023 and frequently serves as a reviewer for major funding agencies in Italy and the European Union.
