“PS-CDMA: A Bridging Scheme From CDMA to IDMA”

Abstract

We present a novel multiple-access scheme, i.e., Partition-Spreading CDMA (PS-CDMA), which represents a wide spectrum of schemes between CDMA and the emerging IDMA. Iterative demodulation can be performed to infer PS-CDMA signals. The fundamental limits of such systems are calculated by evaluating the spectral efficiency of the layered channels that are generated by iterative demodulation. We also introduce a SIC-MMSE based detection method and discuss on its performance as well as complexity against those of its CDMA counterpart.
