Shih-Fu Chang is Professor and Chairman of Electrical Engineering and Director of Digital Video and Multimedia Lab at Columbia University. He has made significant contributions in multimedia search, media forensics, video adaptation, and international standards for multimedia indexing. He has been recognized with several awards, including IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award, Navy ONR Young Investigator Award, IBM Faculty Award, ACM Recognition of Service Award, and NSF CAREER Award. He and his students have received several Best Paper and Best Student Paper Awards from IEEE, ACM, and SPIE. He has worked in different advising/consulting capacities for IBM, Microsoft, Kodak, PictureTel, and several other institutions. He was elected to IEEE Fellow in 2004 and was Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Signal Processing Magazine during 2006-8.
