I have been sailing since I was approximately 12 years old, in 1979. I first started sailing in Athens, Greece, where my father owned a small sailing boat. My sailing experience in Greece was primarily on dinghies (Optimist, Laser, 420). Much later, in the US, I started doing keelboat sailing and got interested in cruising and offshore sailing. Practically all of my sailing time since then has been spent on keelboats.
I am certified as a sailing instructor at nearly all levels of the American Sailing Association (ASA). I also teach during the summer at the New York Sailing School in New Rochelle, NY.
The following are my detailed certifications:

Little Cyclades, Greece - July 2003
A one-week cruise in the area south of Paros and Naxos, in the middle of the Aegean Sea. We started from Paros and visited Antiparos/Despotiko, Schinousa, Iraklia, Kato Koufonisi, Panw Koufonisi, Naxos, and back to Paros.
In Paros, ready to go
Sunset in Schinousa
A World War II airplane, submerged near the coast of Iraklia
Alekos, floating (in Schinousa)
George, scuba diving in Schinousa
Asterias (underwater photo in Schinousa)
Bermuda - Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - May 2002
A great 1,000 mile offshore trip across the Atlantic Ocean. We only navigated with sextants - no GPSs were used for navigation. The most sophisticated electronic hardware onboard was an SSB receiver hooked up to a laptop to download weatherfax charts. The trip was organized by the Blue Water Sailing School.
In Bermuda at the marina, prior to departure on S/V Zephyrus (a 50-feet Beneteau)
En route, about 500 miles from the nearest land, enjoying 30+ knot winds
Taking a sextant shot; sextants were the only navigational tool we used

Mystic, Connecticut - Rock Hall, Maryland - July 2001
A wonderful trip down Long Island Sound, New York Harbour, and the northern Atlantic coast. The captain and instructor, David Appleton, has posted a great trip report at the Maryland School of Sailing & Seamanship web site.
