Brendan Jou is a researcher and software engineer at Google Research. He holds a PhD and M.Phil. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from New York University (NYU). His research interests are in affective computing, multimedia, computer vision, biometrics and pattern recognition/machine learning. He was a 2012-2015 NDSEG Fellow, 2012 Brown Institute for Media Innovation Magic Grant recipient and awardee of the 2016 ACM ICMR Best Multimodal Paper and Best Demo Awards as well as top rank ACM Multimedia Grand Challenge Awards in both 2013 and 2014. In 2010, he served as an ODNI IC Centers of Academic Excellence S&T Scholar for Carnegie Mellon.
