An overview of available programs can be found in the Graduate Programs section of the bulletin. The EE Web site contains additional information about each program, including more specific requirements, general advice, and useful links. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers graduate programs leading to the degree of master of science (M.S.), the graduate professional degree of electrical engineer (E.E.), and the degrees of doctor of engineering science (Eng.Sc.D.) and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.).
Among the fields of graduate study are microelectronics, communications and signal processing, integrated circuit and system analysis and synthesis, photonics, electromagnetic theory and applications, plasma physics, and quantum electronics. A current list of the research activities is shown in this poster and under Research.
Charts showing the interrelation of all the department's graduate course offerings can be found on the course flowcharts page.
Some programs and courses are available through distance learning at the Columbia Video Network.
Information about our master of science program in computer engineering can be found in a separate computer engineering Web site.
