Masaki Miura just finished his 1-year visiting research with DVMM Lab and will
return to Fujitsu Lab Japan. His stay has been very productive and enjoyable
-- we miss his Japanese lessons! He participates in the video surveillance
mining project and has conducted extensive experiments in face detection and
tracking. We wish him continuing success in his career!

Congratulations to Ana and Shahram for winning the best student poster
presentations at the IBM Watson Workshop on Multimedia, held on June 20
2003. Ana's project on IMKA, constructing multimedia knowledge network,
was awarded the first prize. Shahram's work on echocardiogram video
indexing and summarization won the 2nd prize.

Great news from DVMM alumnus, Dr. Ching-Yung Lin. His paper on
semi-fragile authentication watermarking published in IEEE TCSVT has
been selected to be the winner of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society
2003 Young Author Paper Award.

Best wishes to recent DVMM graduates
