EE Hosts Photonic Intergrated Circuits Training NYC 2015

The Electrical Engineering Department recently hosted the Photinic Integrated Circuits (PIC) Training NYC 2015. The week long training was led by numerous industry leaders in photonic manufacturing, including members of the recently announced American Institute Manufacturing (AIM) Photonics. Among those presenting was Professor, Department Chair, and Scientific Director of the Columbia NanO Initiative (CNI), Keren Bergman, an expert on nanoscale photonic interconnection networks.  The five day training provided a centralized location for in-depth, hands on training in the latest design, fabrication, and packaging for photonic manufacturing innovation. Numerous companies and institutes participated in the training, including: Imec, Europractice, VTT Technical Research Centere of Finland Ltd, JePPIX, Franhofer HHI, SMART Photonics, LioniX, Lumerical, Mentor Graphics, PhoeniX Software, Bright Photonics B.V., VLC photonics, Chiral Photonics, Technobis Fibre Technologies, Oclaro, Inc, CEA (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives),  and IHP.
