Peter Kinget in collaboration with Prof. Ranjit Gharpurey from University of Texas at Austin received the "IEEE 2008 Best Student Paper Award -- 1st place" at the
Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium for their paper entitled "A 3.1-9.5 GHz Agile UWB Pulse Radio Receiver with Discrete-Time Wideband-IF Correlation in 90nm CMOS". The research was sponsored by a
collaborative grant from the National Science Foundation. Two related papers by PhD student Anuranjan Jha (Columbia) on "A 3 to 5-GHz UWB Pulse Radio Transmitter in 90nm CMOS" and by PhD student T. Hsieh (UT Austin) on "A Rapid Interference Detector for Ultra Wideband Radio Systems in 0.13um CMOS" were also presented at the conference. The RFIC Symposium is one of the foremost IEEE technical conferences dedicated to the latest innovations in RFIC development of wireless and wire line communication integrated circuits.
