Under the adept and persevering leadership of Mischa Schwartz (Professor
Emeritus, EE), $85,000 has been raised to properly archive some 250,000
documents in the E. H. Armstrong collection of the Rare Books library.
Completion of this initiative of the Armstrong Memorial Research
Foundation (AMRF) will make these documents much more readily available to
students, faculty and staff, to historians of technology, and to all others
in the general public interested in Armstrong and his work.
Major contributors to the project include the IEEE Foundation, the
Communications Society and the Circuits and Systems Society of the
IEEE, Alcatel-Lucent, AMRF, and at Columbia University, the School of
Engineering and Applied Science, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the
Rare Books Library. The archiving project will be under the supervision of
Michael Ryan, Director of the Rare Books Library.
