Assistant Professor Azita Emami-Neyestanak's research interests
covers a wide range of topics in integrated circuits and systems. In
particular, developing new analog, digital and system-level solutions
for building complex systems in highly-scaled technologies. At
Columbia she will continue her research in the area of mixed-signal
design for chip-chip and intra-chip data transmission, as well as
optical communication systems. She is also expanding her research to
non-traditional integration techniques, which eventually allow 3D
structures. She received her PhD and MS degrees from Stanford
University in 2004 and 1999. Prior to joining Columbia she was with
IBM T.J. Watson Research Lab since 2004.

Assistant Professor Ioannis (John) Kymissis received his Ph.D. from
MIT in 2003, his thesis was on vacuum microelectronics for field
emission displays. He joined us in 2006 after a stint as a post-doc
at MIT working on organic and nanostructured semiconductors and
consulting for a startup working on quantum-dot based light
emitters. He is currently working on large-area compatible thin film
electronic and photonic technologies using organic semiconductors and
amorphous metal oxides. His group is especially interested in the
development of new devices and systems for sensing and actuation
distributed over large areas. John's arrival has also spawned debate
among the faculty over whether he or Professor Tsividis is using the
correct spelling of their first names. |
