Prof. Anastassiou's research group develops best-performing gene regulatory reverse engineering algorithm.

The technique, based on the information theoretic concept of synergy, had best performance among competing algorithms in a "challenge" for identifying gene interactions from blinded gene expression data.

For more information see www.nyas.org/ebriefreps/main.asp?intSubSectionID=5913 The challenge submissions were part of the DREAM2 conference (Dialogue on Reverse Engineering Assessment and Methods.

A related paper, also co-authored by EE Ph.D. students John Watkinson and Kuo-ching Liang and Professors Xiaodong Wang of EE and Tian Zheng of Statisctics is shown at www.nyas.org/ebriefreps/ebrief/000705/presentations/anastassiou1/player.html
