Categories: Welcome
Prof.
Christine Fleming recently joined Columbia’s Electrical
Engineering Department as an Assistant Professor after completing her
doctoral work at Case Western Reserve University and post-doctoral
work at Harvard Medical School. The goal of Prof. Fleming’s
Structure – Function
Imaging Laboratory ranges from basic science applications of
understanding how cellular structures result in mechanical and
electrical functional abnormalities in the heart, to translational
applications for monitoring treatments of abnormal heart rhythms. In
particular, her research will focus on developing high resolution
optical imaging systems (i.e. optical coherence tomography) and real
time image analysis to provide a view of areas producing abnormal
rhythms and also visualize therapy in real-time to increase efficacy
and prevent complications. During Spring 2013, Prof. Fleming will
teach a seminar course on Optics in Neuroscience and Cardiology (EEBM
E9070).
