Akshay Shah, an undergraduate in the EE department, has won the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) 2012 Undergraduate-Pregraduate (BS/MS) scholarship, awarded bi-annually to 10 undergraduate students from across the world. The purpose of these scholarships is to attract BS and MS students to the microwave and RF discipline, and to encourage them to pursue a job or PhD degree in this field. The scholarship provides financial support towards a research project proposed by the student and his mentor as well as support to travel and attend the 2013 IEEE International Microwave Symposium where he will receive his award certificate.
Akshay Shah is entering his junior year in the EE department. He is the President of the Class of 2014 and a University Senator. He conducts research in the Columbia high-Speed and Millimeter-wave IC (CoSMIC) lab under the supervision of Prof. Harish Krishnaswamy, and is currently working on the development of an experimental terahertz imaging system.
