Prof. Dirk Englund has been awarded a $1 million grant by the W.M. Keck Foundation together with Profs. Jonathan Owen (Chemistry) and Rafael Yuste (Biology) to develop revolutionary new methods for visualizing neuronal activity using diamond nanoprobes. These techniques will exploit the unique electromagnetic and chemical properties of diamonds to obtain real-time measurements of electrical signals from in vitro and in vivo neural circuits.
